The St. Cloud State University women’s basketball team needed two extra quarters but still came out on top against the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday.

SCSU started strong, taking a 19-17 lead to end the first quarter. In the second, St. Cloud State pushed out even more, leading 36-29 at the half.

The Cougars clawed their way back in the third quarter. They outscored the Huskies 19-12 to tie the game up 48-48. After the fourth quarter, the game remained tied at 62-62.

Each team scored six points in overtime, and then game continued for another extra quarter. Finally, in OT2 the Huskies were able to pull away, scoring 12 to USF's eight and putting the game away 80-76.

Tori Wortz led the team with 23 points and eight rebounds. Madelin Dammann and Katrina Theis each added 16 points, and Nikki Kilboten finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Huskies improve to 6-3 and 3-2 NSIC. They will host the University of Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday. Pre-game starts at 1:30 p.m. on AM 1390 Granite City Sports.
