The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team earned a tie against Northern Michigan University on Friday night.

After a scoreless opening period, the Huskies struck first. Nick Poehling, Will Hammer, and Jack Poehling each scored in the second period to lift SCSU to a 3-0 lead. The tides turned in the third period as the Wildcats netted three of their own to tie the game. That score stood through the end of extra time.

David Hrenak made 22 saves and allowed three goals.

The Huskies are now 1-2-4 and will play game two against the Wildcats on Saturday. Pre-game starts at 4:30 p.m. on The River 96.7 FM.
