ST. CLOUD - The Cathedral High School Gym was packed to the brim on Friday to show support for local Olympic bound hockey player Anne Schleper.

Schleper will be playing for the United States women's hockey team during the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics at Sochi Russia. Schleper was a 2008 graduate of Cathedral High School before continuing her hockey career with the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

The pep rally featured an appearance from St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis, who made January 31st Anne Schleper Day.

Schleper's Mom and Dad also spoke during the rally, thanking Cathedral and Central Minnesota for their continued support.

"The support that we see at Cathedral High School has really been great," Schleper's Father James says, "It's nothing less than all the support we've received through our whole journey."

Highlights from the rally were also recorded by the school to be sent to Schleper in Sochi. The U.S. women's hockey team will play their first game against Finland next Saturday at 2:00 a.m.
