Rox Drop 2020 Season Finale to Willmar
ST. CLOUD - The Rox needed a win in their seasons finale game or a Mankato loss to clinch the Northwoods League's Minnesota-Iowa pod championship on Thursday night. Unfortunately for St. Cloud, neither one of those happened as Mankato took care of business and St. Cloud fell to Willmar 9-3 at Joe Faber Field to end their season.
Rox Decrease Magic Number to 2 After Win in Rochester
ROCHESTER - The St. Cloud Rox were able to ride a big 5th inning on Tuesday night as they took down the Rochester Honkers 9-3. St. Cloud put the game away in that inning thanks to three bases loaded walks, followed by a 3 run double from Ben Norman.
Rox Escape Willmar With 4-3 Win
WILLMAR - The Willmar Stingers were able to load the bases in the 9th inning, but closer Blake Stelzer forced a game ending 4-6-3 double play and the St. Cloud Rox defeated the Stingers 4-3. Starting pitcher Luke Albright was the story of the game for St. Cloud after a terrific performance on the mound. The right hander pitched 5 innings, giving up 2 runs and was one strikeout shy of tying the team record for a single game, finishing with 12 K's.
Rox Fall 1-0 in Mankato
Justin Kelly pitched great for the Rox on Tuesday night, but suffered a tough luck loss in Mankato as St. Cloud lost to the Moon Dogs 1-0. Kelly allowed just the single run in 6 innings of work. Trevor Koenig also pitched well, shutting down the Moon Dogs over 2 innings.
Rox Take Down Honkers in Pitchers Duel
It took until the 8th inning before the St. Cloud Rox could get on the board in Rochester on Friday night, but it was enough as they were able to defeat the Honkers 2-0. Luke Roskam's squeeze bunt gave the Rox a 1-0 lead and they were able to add an insurance run an inning later after a wild pitch.
Rox Ride Big 5th Inning in 4-2 Win Over Rochester
The St. Cloud Rox were able to improve their record to 12-10 after a 4-2 win over the Rochester Honkers in St. Cloud on Thursday night. The Rox did all of their damage in the 5th inning, which was enough to pick up the victory. Nick Marinconz got the scoring started with a 2 run double, Jack Kelly added a run with a sacrifice fly right after that and Collin Montez added another insurance run with another double a few batters later.
8th Inning Rally Falls Short as Rox Fall to Moon Dogs
The St. Cloud Rox were down 6-1 going into the 8th inning against Mankato on Tuesday night, and while they were able to make things interesting, they ultimately lost to the Moon Dogs 6-4. Nate Swarts knocked in 2 with a double to cut the deficit to 6-3 and Garett Delano made it a 2 run game shortly after with a sacrifice fly. Nate Rombach also added a sacrifice fly earlier in the game.
Rox Shut Out in Willmar
It was a rough night for the St. Cloud Rox on Thursday night as the Willmar Stingers shut them 6-0 in Willmar. Luke Albright got the start for the Rox, going 4 solid innings while only allowing 2 runs and striking out 7. Justin Kelly was a highlight out of the bullpen for the Rox as he pitched 3 shutout innings and struck out an additional 4 Stingers.
Rox Lose In Rain Shortened Series Finale
The St. Cloud Rox took an early 1-0 in Waterloo on Tuesday night, but the Bucks scored 4 in their half of 1st inning and added 2 more insurance runs before a weather stoppage ended the game in the bottom of the 7th and the Rox fell 6-2.
Rox Take Down Honkers 9-4
The Rox were able to earn a series split and improved their record to 7-7 on Sunday as they defeated the Rochester Honkers 9-4 at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud.
