It's hard to be a Timberwolves fan.  When your favorite squad just gets whipped night in and night out, it can grow old, fast.  The problem is, the NBA's regular season IS NOT FAST.

In fact, the regular season can be downright unbearable.  True or false, as a T'Wolves fan - you pretty much assume that they are going to lose every game?  TRUE.  True or false, in most games this season - the Wolves play pretty respectable basketball....FOR ABOUT A HALF.  True.  True or false, you are still glad the Wolves hired Kurt Rambis to coach the team?  The answer should still be, TRUE.

Rambis is not only a winner.  He was, and in many ways will always be, a big part of one of the most successful dynasties in American sports history.  Many downplay his successful past, but I find that impossible, if not stupid.  As a player and a coach, he has been a part of 8 championship teams.  He played side by side with; Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, and James Worthy.  He played AGAINST the great Celtics teams of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parrish.  He took on Dr. J's 76ers, and the "Bad Boys" from Detroit in the late 80's/early 90's, that were led by Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Bill Laimbeer, and a young, tenacious, Dennis Rodman.  At one time or another, Rambis beat them all.

The man understands greatness.  He has been part of it.  He recognizes it.

We only have one piece to the puzzle right now, and that is Kevin Love.  He is a perfect player to build a team around.  He's a rebounding machine, he plays great defense with maximum effort, and his offensive game is getting better every night.  By all accounts, he is a great "character" guy, as well, and that IS CRITICAL for the leader of a young team.

I like young guns Wayne Ellington and Wes Johnson, too - but that's about it, regrettably.  Darko and Ridnour are serviceable at best - and Beasley will always be the epitome of a "Ball Hog".

For now, I'll just keep the faith that soon we'll CLEAN HOUSE, build around K-Love, and maybe get lucky in the lottery.  If we ever get some players in Minnesota, Coach Rambis will know what to do with them.  Right now, though, that's a MONUMENTAL " IF".
