The Timberwolves fell one point shy of a big comeback win in a 84-83 loss in Phoenix to the lowly Suns.
The Wolves erased a 14 point halftime deficit by holding Phoenix to only 30 points total in the second half. Wolves guard Ricky Rubio had a chance to win the game with time winding down in the fourth quarter but the second year Spaniard could not hit a jumper and the game went to overtime.
With the Wolves trailing by one at the end of overtime, Alexy Shved missed a layup with three seconds left on the clock that would have given Minnesota a one-point lead.
Derrick Williams again impressed for the Wolves with 21 points and ten rebounds, and center Nikola Pekovic scored 18 points while pulling down 12 boards.
