The Minnesota Wild traded defenseman Nick Schultz to Edmonton for defenseman and Minnesota native Tom Gilbert.  Schultz is the all-time leader in games played for the Wild with 743.  He has played in at least 79 games in each of the last 6 seasons for Minnesota including all 62 games this season.  Gilbert has 3 goals and 14 assists in 47 games for Edmonton.

The Wild also traded defenseman Greg Zanon to Boston for defenseman Steve Kampfer.  Zanon is 31 years old while Kampfer is 23.  Kampfer has 5 goals in 48 games with Boston this season.  Kampfer will report to the Houston in the AHL.
