The Minnesota Wild rallied late in the third period for a pair of goals to tie the game and go to overtime, but ultimately fell 3-2 to the Colorado Avalanche in Denver.

The Avalanche led throughout the game, beginning with Gabriel Landeskog's ninth of the season at 2:22 of the first period. Nathan McKinnon's fifth of the year at 12:56 of the second period gave Colorado at 2-0 lead going into the final period.

With just over two minutes remaining in regulation, Matt Cooke found the back of the net for Minnesota to break the shutout and cut the Avs lead to 2-1.

Wild captain Mikko Koivu notched the equalizer at 19:54 of the third period to send the game to overtime, in which neither team scored. Colorado won the shootout 1-0.

Minnesota is now 15-8-5 on the season and will host the Philadelphia Flyers at Xcel Energy Center Monday night.
