WCHA: SCSU On Top After Weekend Action

The St. Cloud State men’s hockey team is in sole possession of first place in the WCHA this morning after taking three points in North Dakota this weekend. The Huskies defeated UND 3-1 on Friday then skated to a 2-2 tie on Saturday. SCSU is 15-10-1 on the year and will head to Bemidji to take on the Beavers this weekend.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers’ #1 ranking could be in jeopardy after splitting a pair of games with #14 Minnesota State this weekend. The Mavericks prevailed 2-1 at Mariucci Arena on Friday night, then Minnesota had their revenge in Mankato Saturday with a 4-1 win.

Minnesota trails SCSU by a single point in the standings. The Gophers have a weekend of rest before a potentially epic showdown with SCSU at the NHEC on Feb 8/9.
