The Minnesota Vikings waived third string quarterback Mcleod Bethel-Thompson Tuesday to open roster space for newly signed quarterback Josh Freeman.

Bethel-Thompson, 25, has been rostered by the Vikings since January of 2012 but has not played a snap in a regular season game.

The Vikings were his third NFL team, and the Sacramento State product also played in the UFL for one season.

Freeman is not expected to start on Sunday when the Vikings host the Panthers.
