Twins Win Wild Game With White Sox
The Minnesota Twins beat the Chicago White Sox 10-9 Thursday to earn their first win of the 2014 season, and 999th of manager Ron Gardenhire's career. Chris Colabello led the ten-run attack with a career-high six runs batted in.
Trevor Plouffe continued his hot hitting for the Twins, raising his average to .452 with a 2-4 day and also contributed two RBI. Catcher Josmil Pinto smashed his first (and the Twins' first) home run of the season in the eighth inning to tie the game at nine.
Phil Hughes made his Twins debut on the mound and threw five innings while allowing four runs (two home runs) on seven hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.
The Twins begin a series with the Indians in Cleveland Friday at 2:05 (WJON).
