Twins Whiff In Chance At 4th-Straight Win

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins struck out 14 times as a team in a 4-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Saturday afternoon.

Cleveland starter Danny Salazar was downright nasty, striking out 10 in six innings while allowing only six hits and two runs.

Twins starter Phil Hughes (0-3) will have to wait again for his first win of the season after a shaky outing in which he allowed four runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings today.

Minnesota looked to be in business in the third when Torii Hunter missed a two-run home run buy a few feet, but settled for an RBI double that tied the game at 1-1.

After that, Salazar went back to stifling the Twins for the remainder of his outing.

Minnesota fell behind 4-1 in the seventh before Kurt Suzuki blasted his second homer of the season -- a solo shot to bring the Twins within two runs. But that was all the scoring Minnesota could muster.

With the loss, the Twins fall to 4-7 on the season and will send Trevor May to the mound tomorrow for the rubber match against Cleveland starter T.J. House. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.
