Joe Mauer hit a two-run home run in the first inning to pace the Twins offense in a 7-5 win over the Chicago White Sox at Target Field. The Twins scored four first-inning runs and the bullpen held on for the win.

Ryan Doumit broke out of a slump for the Twins by going 3-4 with two RBI, and Mauer finished 3-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Jared Burton gave up a run in an inning of relief but ended up getting the win.

The Twins and Sox will play game two of their series with Chicago on Wednesday night. Chicago ace Chris Sale will get the nod for the Sox, with Kevin Correia on the mound for the Twins.
