Twins Rally To Win Game, Series Against Toronto

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins capped off a successful month of baseball with a 6-5 come-from-behind victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.

Things looked gloomy for the Twins, as they could not establish any scoring threat after the first inning against Toronto starter Josh Hutchison.

Minnesota trailed by three runs before rallying in the sixth inning with an RBI single by Joe Mauer followed by a long home run by Trevor Plouffe that tied the game at 4-4.

Third baseman Josh Donaldson looked to save the game for the Blue Jays when he launched a solo home run in the top of the seventh to give Toronto a 5-4 lead.

But Minnesota responded in the bottom of the inning with a go-ahead double by Torii Hunter that scored Aaron Hicks and Brian Dozier.

Twins reliever Blaine Boyer held the lead in his inning of work and closer Glen Perkins slammed the door for his league-leading 19th save in the victory,

With the win, the Twins improve to 30-19 on the season and will travel to Boston to play the Red Sox tomorrow night with Mike Pelfrey taking the mound for a 6:00 p.m. start.
