Twins Pull Away From Tigers
DETROIT, MI -- The Minnesota Twins scored four runs in the last three innings to beat the Detroit Tigers 6-2 on Saturday night.
The Twins took a 2-0 lead in the third inning before the Tigers tied it with two runs in the fourth off rookie Tyler Duffey.
Duffey would finish the game allowing only two runs on eight hits over six innings to improve to 5-1 on the season.
The Twins retook the lead in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Kurt Suzuki and an RBI groundout by Eduardo Escobar.
Escobar added a two-run home run in the ninth to seal the 6-2 win for Minnesota.
With the win, the Twins improve to 79-75 on the season -- 1 1/2 game back in the race for the final A.L. Wildcard spot.
Minnesota will finish up the series with the Tigers today at noon with Ervin Santana (6-4) getting the start for the Twins against Randy Wolf (0-4).
