The Twins officially signed free agent righthanded starting pitcher Jason Marquis to a 1-year contract worth $3 Million.  Marquis pitched with both Washington and Arizona in 2011 and was a combined 8-6 with a 4.33 ERA in 132 innings.  He averaged only 5 2/3 innings per start.  Marquis is 33 years old and is coming off arm surgery.  His fastball has recently been clocked at just 89 MPH.

Marquis has pitched with Atlanta, the Cubs, Colorado, Washington and Arizona.  This will be his first appearance as an American League pitcher.
