The Twins defeated the New York Yankees 5-4 Tuesday night.  Minnesota scored 4 runs in the 7th inning highlighted by Denard Span's 2-run double.  Joe Mauer was 3-4 with a run scored and 1 RBI.  Mauer is batting .326 and is just 3 points behind Miguel Cabrera for the American League lead.  Ryan Doumit was 2-4 with a run scored for Minnesota.

Esmerling Vasquez threw 6 innings with 7 hits and 2 earned runs allowed for Minnesota.  Casey Fien allowed 1 earned run in 1 inning to get the win and Glen Perkins allowed a solo homerun to Aundrew Jones but gets the save, his 15th.

The Twins are 65-90 and will play the rubber game of the 3-game series with the Yankees at Target Field at 12:10 today, pregame on WJON at 11:40.  Righthander Sam Deduno (6-5) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and lefthander C.C. Sabathia (13-6) toes the rubber for the Yankees.
