The Twins demoted pitcher Scott Diamond and outfielder Aaron Hicks to AAA-level Rochester Thursday after a loss to the Kansas City Royals.

Hicks was anointed the centerfielder of the future during spring training after he dominated Grapefruit League pitching. The 23-year old Hicks hit just .195 with eight home runs and 27 RBI in 277 at bats during the regular season.

Diamond had a breakout season in an otherwise dismal 2012 Twins campaign, posting a 12-9 record with a 3.54 ERA. This season the lefty is 5-10 with a 5.29 ERA.

To take their place Minnesota recalled outfielder Oswaldo Arcia, who has a .257 average in 206 at bats this season at the Major League level.

The second player will be called up following Rochester's game Thursday night.
