The Twins arn't helping their production at the plate from the catching position after calling up Rene Rivera from Triple-A.  He was hitting just .200 in 13 games and isn't considered a prospect.  Steve Holm was sent down in favor of Rivera after hitting just .118 in 17 at-bats with the Twins.  Joe Mauer continues to reside on the disabled list with leg weakness and it's unclear when he will return.  The combination of Drew Butera and Rivera at catcher sounds just as bad and Butera and Holm at catcher.  Butera is hitting .111 in 54 at bats this season.  The Twins could have called up prospect Danny Lehman instead of Rivera or sign a free agent like Bengie Molina.  Signing free agent catcher 39-year old Mike Redmond may be a better option than Rivera.
