The Twins defeated the Kansas City Royals 4-3 Sunday afternoon to win 3 of 4 games this weekend.  Jim Thome hit a 3-run homerun to break the 1-all tie.  The homerun traveled 490 feet setting a new Target Field record for longest homerun.  Thome's homerun is his 596th.  Joe Mauer was 2-3 with a run scored and 1 RBI, Alexi Casilla was 2-3 with a run scored and Ben Revere went 2-4 with a run scored for the Twins.  Brian Duensing threw 6 1/3 innings with 7 hits and 3 earned runs allowed to get the win and improve to 7-7.

Glen Perkins threw a scoreless 8th inning and Joe Nathan pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning for the save, his 5th.  Minnesota is now 5 games back of Cleveland and Detroit for first place in the American League Central.
