Twins Beat Cleveland 4-3 To Win 3rd Straight
The Twins defeated Cleveland 4-3 Sunday afternoon to win their first series this season and complete a 2-game sweep. The game Friday night against Cleveland was rained out. Minnesota was led by Jason Kubel and Justin Morneau who each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Carl Pavano threw 7 innings with 6 hits and 3 earned runs allowed to get the win and improve to 2-2. Matt Capps threw the 9th inning to grab his 4th save. Minnesota improves to 9-12 and is now 4 games back of Cleveland for first place in the AL Central. The Twins have won 3 straight and are now in 4th place in the AL Central. Minnesota is off today and will begin a 3-game series against Tampa Bay Tuesday night at 7:10, pregame on WJON at 6:40. Lefthander Francisco Liriano (1-3) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Wade Davis (2-2) toes the rubber for the Rays. Delmon Young (sore rib) could return to the lineup Tuesday night against Tampa Bay.
