The Timberwolves fell to the Mavericks 100-94 in Dallas Monday night. The Wolves fall to 8-40 on the season with the loss.

For a second straight game the Wolves kept it close against a playoff team but fell just short in the end. Minnesota trailed by just two points after a pair of Mo Williams free throws with 1:52 left in the fourth quarter but failed to make another basket in the contest.

Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio returned to the lineup after missing over 40 games with an ankle injury and contributed ten points on 4-9 shooting with four assists and three turnovers. Kevin Martin led Minnesota with 19 points.

The Wolves host Miami at Target Center on Wednesday.
