The Twins lost 6-5 Monday afternoon in Detroit on a controversial call.  Alex Avila doubled down the leftfield line and the ball appeared to touch 1 or more fans and fan interference was called but the umpires decided to award Jhonny Peralta home plate from first base on what appeared to be a ground-rule double.  Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire was ejected from the game for arguing the call.  The Twins thought Peralta should have been awarded 3rd base instead.  Alex Burnett allowed the double and took the loss to drop to 1-4.  Michael Cuddyer went 2-4 with 2 RBIs and Rene Rivera went 2-4 with a run scored and 1 RBI for the Twins.  Minnesota falls to 17-35 and are 14 1/2 games back of Cleveland for first place in the American League Central.  The Twins play the 2nd game of the series at Detroit tonight at 6:05, pregame on WJON at 5:35.  Lefthander Brian Duensing (2-5) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Max Scherzer (6-2) toes the rubber for the Tigers.
