After over a decade as rivals in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association the St. Cloud State Huskies and Minnesota Golden Gopher men's hockey teams went their separate ways beginning this season.

The Gophers joined the all-new Big Ten hockey conference along with Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State.So far this season the Gophers are the #1 team in the country with a record of 17-2-3.

The Huskies also joined an all-new conference this season: the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Joining SCSU in the new league are Colorado College, Denver, Minnesota-Duluth, Miami University, North Dakota, and Western Michigan. SCSU is currently ranked #5 in the country.

The two teams will meet Friday night at Xcel Energy Center (6:30 PM, WJON) in their only scheduled meeting of the season.
