The St. Cloud State men's hockey team began the season with a 5-3 loss at New Hampshire Friday night. Andrew Prochno, Ben Hanowski and Tim Daly each scored a goal for the Huskies. Ryan Faragher had 34 saves for SCSU. The Huskies tied the game at 2 in the 2nd period before New Hampshire scored 3 straight goals.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team received votes in this week's USCHO.com Division I men's college hockey poll. SCSU earned 78 points and are 3 points out of the 20th spot in the poll. Boston College is ranked #1 followed by the Gophers, Michigan, North Dakota and Union in the top 5. Denver is ranked #8, MN-Duluth is #12, and Wisconsin is ranked #18.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team is picked to finish 6th in the WCHA preseason media poll. The Gophers are picked to win the conference title followed by North Dakota, Denver, Wisconsin, Minnesota-Duluth, St. Cloud State, Colorado College, Nebraska-Omaha, Michigan Tech, Minnesota State-Mankato, Bemidji State and Alaska-Anchorage.
SCSU’s LeBlanc To Get Medical Redshirt
The St. Cloud State hockey team got some good news Wednesday. Senior forward Drew LeBlanc has been approved for a medical redshirt and will get another season with the Huskies. He played just 10 games in 2011-2012 with 2 goals and 10 assists. He missed most of the season because of injury.

St. Cloud State goaltender Mike Lee is forgoing his senior season at SCSU after signing a 3-year entry level contract with the Phoenix Coyotes. He was drafted by the Coyotes in the 3rd round in 2009. Financial considerations were not disclosed. Lee had a record of 8-6-2 with a 2.23 goals against average and a .930 save percentage in 16 games this season at SCSU.

St. Cloud State junior forward David Eddy has signed a 2-way contract with the Calgary Flames and will forego his senior season at SCSU to play professionally. Eddy finished his career with 30 goals and 35 assists in 92 games at SCSU. Eddy had 9 goals and 16 assists for the Huskies this season. Eddy will likely play for the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL. Travis Novak of SCSU signed a ATO to play for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team lost 4-1 to North Dakota in the WCHA Final Five at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Thursday night. Ben Hanowski scored the lone SCSU goal in the 1st period to tie the game at 1 before North Dakota got the game-winner from Brock Nelson in the 2nd period. Mike Lee had 24 saves in net for the Huskies.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team defeated Nebraska-Omaha 3-1 Saturday night to win the WCHA first round best of 3 series 2 games to none and advance to the WCHA Final Five. Jared Festler, Ben Hanowski and Travis Novak each scored a goal for the Huskies and Mike Lee had 32 saves. SCSU scored 2 goals in the 3rd period after the game was tied at 1 after 2.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team defeated Nebraska-Omaha 4-0 in game 1 of their WCHA first round playoff series and lead 1 game to none heading into tonight's game 2. Joe Rehkamp and Ben Hanowski each scored a goal in the first period, Andrew Prochno scored for SCSU in the 2nd and Taylor Johnson scored a power play goal for the Huskies in the 3rd. Mike Lee had 27 saves to get the shutout in net for SCSU.

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team defeated #2 Minnesota-Duluth 2-1 Friday night to keep their home ice hopes alive in the WCHA playoffs. Brooks Bertsch and Travis Novak each scored a goal for the Huskies and Mike Lee had 35 saves. SCSU has 27 WCHA points and is tied with Nebraska-Omaha for 6th place in the league standings.
