Twins End Skid With Win Over A’s
The Twins defeated the Oakland A's 5-4 Monday afternoon to end their 5-game losing streak. Minnesota scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to come from down 4-3 to win. Justin Morneau singled in the tying run before Ryan Doumit's sacrifice fly scored Josh Willingham from 3rd base to put the Twins ahead. Matt Capps allowed 2 base runners but converted the save. He blew a save the day before against Detroit.
Tigers Beat Twins, Pavano 6-3
The Twins have lost 4 games in a row after falling 6-3 at Target Field to the Detroit Tigers Saturday afternoon. Carl Pavano was touched up for 10 hits and 6 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings to take the loss and drop to 2-4 this season. Pavano gave up 6 straight hits in the 4-run Detroit 4th inning. Justin Morneau and Denard Span each hit solo homeruns and Span added a double. Ben Revere had 3 hits for the Twins.
White Sox Beat, DeVries Twins 11-8
The White Sox beat the Twins 11-8 Wednesday night in the rubber game of the 3-game series. Alejandro De Aza hit a grand slam homerun off Brian Duensing to break the game wide open. Justin Morneau was 3-5 with 2 homeruns and 3 RBIs and Joe Mauer went 2-4 with a homerun and 2 runs scored. Morneau has 8 homeruns and Mauer has 2 homeruns this season. Brian Dozier hit a 2-run single for Minnesota.

The Twins defeated the White Sox 9-2 in Chicago Tuesday night to begin a 3-game series. P.J. Walters threw all 9 innings with 5 hits and 2 earned runs allowed with 8 strikeouts to get the win. The complete-game for Walters was the first of his career and first for a Twins' pitcher this season. Minnesota jumped on White Sox starter Gavin Floyd for 4 runs in the 2nd inning and 5 more in the 4th inning. Justin Morneau hit a 3-run homerun, Denard Span was 2-5 with a run and 1 RBI and Josh Willingham had 2 RBIs for the Twins.

The Twins pounded the Brewers 11-3 in Milwaukee to win their 3rd straight game Friday night. Denard Span led the Twins going 4-5 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs, Joe Mauer was 3-5 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs and Justin Morneau was 2-4 with 3 RBIs for Minnesota. Scott Diamond threw 5 1/3 innings with 8 hits and 3 earned runs scored to get the win and improve to 3-0.

The Twins downed the Tigers 4-3 in Detroit Thursday to complete a 2-game sweep. Justin Morneau went 2-4 with a 2-run homerun and 3 RBIs and Trevor Plouffe had a solo homerun for Minnesota. Drew Butera added 3 hits for the Twins. P.J. Walters started the game and allowed 6 1/3 innings with 4 hits and 3 earned runs allowed to get the win and improve to 1-1. The Twins are expected to activate first baseman Justin Morneau from the 15-day disabled list today in time for him to play tonight at Detroit. Morneau has been on the disabled list for the past 15 days with a sore left wrist. He's been taking batting practice the last couple of days and is reporting no problems. Morneau in 20 games was batting .230 with 4 homeruns and 9 RBIs this season.

Twins' first baseman Justin Morneau saw a specialist Tuesday to take a look at his sore left wrist. An MRI showed no structural damage just some fluid and inflammation. Morneau is expected to rejoin the team in Anaheim today and could return to the lineup as early as Friday night when the Twins play at Seattle.

Justin Morneau hit a 2-run homerun in Minnesota's 4-run 8th inning, Joe Mauer hit a 3-run homerun, Josh Willingham had 3 hits including a solo homerun and Denard Span was 4-5 with a run and 1 RBI for the Twins. Jeff Gray recorded just 1 out for the win and Matt Capps allowed 3 hits and 2 earned runs in the 9th inning for the save.
