Twins' catcher Joe Mauer spoke to the media Monday afternoon and says pneumonia caused the premature end to his season. He insisted that the illness was too much for him to play with and he would have if he could have. Mauer played just 82 games this season and hit .287 with 3 homeruns and 30 RBIs.

Joe Mauer was forced to play right field because of injuries to Matt Tolbert, Jason Kubel and Denard Span. Mauer made the routine plays and was 1-3 at the plate with 1 RBI.
