The Twins trailed Cleveland 1-0 after 2 innings when rain forced a delay and then a postponement. No makeup date has been scheduled yet but the Twins do return to Cleveland September 23-25. The Twins begin a 3-game series at Detroit tonight at 6:05, pregame on WJON at 5:35. Lefthander Francisco Liriano (7-9) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Rick Porcello (11-7) toes the rubber for the Tigers.

The Twins are 7 games back of Detroit for first place in the American League Central with 2 months remaining and a week to go before the Major League Baseball trading deadline. The Twins should finally cut bait on Liriano, Slowey and Delmon Young. Liriano is inconsistent and doesn't keep the team in the game half of the time. Kevin Slowey doesn't want to be here and his value doesn't seem to be increasing.

The Twins lost 5-2 at home to the Detroit Tigers Sunday afternoon. Francisco Liriano allowed 6 hits and 4 earned runs in 2 1/3 innings to take the loss and drop to 6-8. Rick Porcello allowed 2 earned runs in 6 innings to get the win for the Tigers. Delmon Young went 2-4 with 1 RBI and Danny Valencia was 2-4 with 1 run scored for the Twins.

The Twins host the Kansas City Royals tonight beginning a 12-game homestand and 4-game series at Target Field. Minnesota and Kansas City will begin at 7:10 tonight, pregame on WJON at 6:40. Lefthander Francisco Liriano (5-7) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and lefthander Bruce Chen (5-2) toes the rubber for the Royals.
Brewers Rout Twins 11-1
The Twins have lost 3 straight games after falling 11-1 in Milwaukee to the Brewers Saturday night. Francisco Liriano was hit for 8 hits and 5 earned run in just 3 2/3 innings. He takes the loss and drops to 4-7. Ben Revere went 2-5 with 1 RBI and Michael Cuddyer was 2-3 at the plate for the Twins.
Liriano, Twins Beat Rangers 6-1
Twins' starter Francisco Liriano flirted with his 2nd no-hitter this season in their 6-1 win over Texas Sunday afternoon. Liriano took a no-hitter into the 8th inning before Adrian Beltre broke it up with a single up the middle to lead off the inning. The Twins scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning and Liriano sat idle in the dugout for 32 minutes before allowing the hit to Beltre in the 8th.

The Twins lost 1-0 at Cleveland against the Indians Tuesday night. The loss snaps a 5-game win streak for the Twins. Carlos Carrasco threw 8 1/3 innings with 3 hits allowed to get the win and improve to 5-3. Chris Perez recorded the final 2 outs to get the save.
Twins Place Liriano On DL; Kubel Hurt
The Twins placed lefthanded starting pitcher Francisco Liriano on the 15-day disabled list with inflamation in his throwing shoulder Sunday. Anthony Slama was called up from triple-A Rochester to replace Liriano on the active roster. Slama will work out of the bullpen while Anthony Swarzak will take Liriano's spot in the starting rotation.
Twins Get Swept In Arizona
The Twins lost 3-2 in Arizona Sunday afternoon to get swept in the 3-game series. Delmon Young had 2 hits including a solo homerun and scored both Twins' runs. His homerun tied the game at 2 in the 7th inning. Arizona got a leadoff triple from Willie Bloomquist in the bottom of the 7th and a sacrifice fly from Ryan Roberts drove him in.
