Cathedral Baseball

Section 6AA Finals Cathedral 1, Little Falls 0 (9 Innings) (Tommy McMorrow drove in the game-winning run in the 9th inning for Cathedral. Andrew Thome threw all 9 innings with 1 hit allowed to get the win.

The St. Cloud Cathedral Baseball team plays Little Falls tonight at 5pm at Dick Putz Field in the section 6AA finals.  Cathedral needs just 1 win tonight while Little Falls needs to beat Cathedral twice.  A 2nd game will be played at around 7pm if needed...

Section 6AA Baseball Playoffs Cathedral 5, Albany 1 (Waylon Bemboom went 3-4 with 1 RBI and Matt Dodge was 2-4 with a run and 1 RBI for the Crusaders. Cathedral advances to section 6AA finals Thursday).

East Sub-Section 6AA Finals Cathedral 16, Little Falls 8 (Andrew Thome went 3-4 with 3 RBIs for Cathedral. The Crusaders are 19-3 and will host Albany at 7pm at Dick Putz Field Monday. Little Falls play an elimination game against Melrose at 5pm at Putz Field Monday)

The Rocori softball team plays in the section 6AA finals tonight at Whitney Field in St. Cloud at 5pm against Albany. Rocori needs to beat Albany twice while Albany needs just 1 win to advance to the state tournament. A second game, if needed, will be played immediately following the first game.

The Cathedral baseball team has the best chance of all St. Cloud area baseball and softball programs at advancing to the state tournament. The Crusaders are the top seed in East Sub-Section 6AA and will open the playoffs tonight against Holdingford at Dick Putz Field. Cathedral's toughest tests will likely come from Little Falls, Albany, Rocori or Paynesville.

Cathedral 17, Milaca 1 (Andrew Thome went 3-3 with 5 RBIs for the Crusaders) Moorhead 7, Tech 4 Tech 5, Monticello 3 (Marcus Lommel went 1-2 with 1 RBI for the Tigers)

With the Twins struggling and coming off a disappointing winter sports season from the Timberwolves, Wild and Gophers we need something positive on the sports scene. Look local to Sauk Rapids-Rice, Apollo, Rocori and Cathedral baseball. All 4 have a shot to make a run at the state tournament and Cathedral had been ranked #1 in the state in Class 2A.
