The Twins defeated San Francisco 9-2 Tuesday night to begin a 3-game series. Minnesota started the game with 8 straight hits and scored 8 first inning runs. Ben Revere and Luke Hughes were each 2-5 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored and Joe Mauer was 2-5 with a run scored and 1 RBI.

The Twins begin a 3-game series at San Francisco tonight after getting a day off Monday. Minnesota has won 7 straight games and is 31-39 on the season and is now 7 1/2 games back of Cleveland for first place in the AL Central.

The Twins beat the Chicago White Sox 4-1 Wednesday night to win their 10th game in their last 12. Carl Pavano threw all 9 innings with 6 hits and 1 earned run allowed to get the win and improve to 4-5. Pavano had 5 strikeouts allowed 3 walks. Michael Cuddyer was 2-3 with 3 stolen bases and 2 runs scored and Delmon Young had a 2-run single for the Twins.

The Twins and White Sox were rained out Tuesday night at Target Field. No makeup date has been scheduled yet but the White Sox are scheduled to return to Target Field August 5-7 and September 5-7. The Twins will host the White Sox tonight at 7:10, pregame on WJON at 6:40.

The Twins won 5-2 at Kansas City Friday night to get their 2nd straight victory. Carl Pavano threw all 9 innings with 9 hits and 2 earned runs allowed to get the win and improve to 3-5 this season. The win is his 100th in his major league career. Denard Span went 2-5 with a 2-run triple and both Delmon Young and Ben Revere were 2-4 with a run scored.

The Twins could become sellers at the trade deadline this season if they can't get things turned around soon. The Twins are looking up at 4 teams in the AL Central and trail division leading Cleveland by 12 1/2 games. Minnesota could come back but if they don't they could try and replenish their farm system by dealing some players. The top player the Twins could deal is starting pitchers Carl Pavano and Francisco Liriano.

The Red Sox beat the Twins 9-5 Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park in Boston. Carl Pavano allowed 10 hits and 7 earned runs in 5 innings to take the loss and drop to 2-4. His ERA swells to 6.64. Jason Kubel went 3-4 with a run scored and 2 RBIs and Danny Valencia went 2-4 with a homerun and 2 RBIs for the Twins.

The Twins lost their 6th in a row Sunday afternoon 10-3 in Kansas City to the Royals. Kansas City completed a 3-game sweep of Minnesota outscoring them 25-8 in the 3 games. Mike Aviles hit a homerun and drove in 4 runs for the Royals. Justin Morneau hit his first homerun of the season and Carl Pavano threw 5 1/3 innings with 12 hits and 6 earned runs allowed to take the loss and drop to 2-3. Pavano's ERA is 5.84.

The Twins defeated Cleveland 4-3 Sunday afternoon to win their first series this season and complete a 2-game sweep. The game Friday night against Cleveland was rained out. Minnesota was led by Jason Kubel and Justin Morneau who each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Carl Pavano threw 7 innings with 6 hits and 3 earned runs allowed to get the win and improve to 2-2. Matt Capps threw the 9th inning to grab his 4th save.

The Twins lost 11-0 at Baltimore to the Orioles Tuesday night. Carl Pavano allowed 8 hits and 7 earned runs in 4 2/3 innings to take the loss and drop to 1-2. Joe Nathan allowed a 3-run homerun to Vladimir Guerrero in his first appearance since being removed as the closer. Nathan's ERA is 11.37.
