Gopher senior forward/center Trevor Mbakwe has been named the Big Ten player of the week for leading the Gophers to wins over #1 Indiana and last place Penn State. Mbakwe posted double-doubles in both Gopher wins including a season high 21 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Indiana.

The 12th ranked Gopher basketball team lost 45-44 Saturday at Wisconsin. Minnesota was down 2 with 1.8 seconds left when Trevor Mbakwe was fouled after catching the in-bound pass.

The 9th ranked Gophers host #5 Michigan in a National TV game tonight at 6pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 5:30. The Gophers are 15-2 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten.

The 8th ranked Gopher men's basketball team lost 88-81 at #5 Indiana Saturday afternoon. Minnesota trailed 52-29 at halftime and made a 19-7 run in the closing minutes to get within 3 points with under a minute left.

The 8th ranked Gopher men's basketball team won at #12 Illinois Wednesday night 84-67. Minnesota led by 4 at halftime and never trailed in the 2nd half.

The 9th ranked Gopher men's basketball team defeated #18 Michigan State 76-63 at Williams Arena in their Big Ten opener Monday. The Gophers finished the game on a 22-4 run.

The 14th ranked Gopher men's basketball team won 88-64 at home against South Dakota State Tuesday night. The Jackrabbits played without top scorer guard Nate Wolters. The St. Cloud Tech High School graduate missed the game due to a sprained ankle the day before the game.

The Gopher men's basketball team won 66-63 over Stanford in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament consolation championship Saturday afternoon.

The Gopher men's basketball team improved to 4-0 after beating Richmond 72-57 at Williams Arena Sunday night. Rodney Williams led the Gophers with 15 points and 6 rebounds, Andre Hollins added 14 points and 7 assists and Austin Hollins chipped in 13 points.

The Gopher men's basketball team defeated Tennessee State 72-43 Thursday night to improve to 3-0. Rodney Williams led the Gophers with 15 points and 7 rebounds, Andre Hollins added 13 points and 5 assists and Austin Hollins chipped in 12 points. Minnesota shot 48 percent from the field while Tennessee State shot 24 percent.
