Spurgeon’s Spectacular Shot Overshadowed By Wild Loss
The New Jersey Devils made a pair of comebacks to beat the Minnesota Wild 4-3 Tuesday night at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild led 2-0 and 3-2 in the game.
Jared Spurgeon scored a spectacular power play goal in the first period, gloving the puck then batting it out of midair for the goal.
The Wild led 1-0 after one period, and took a 2-0 lead halfway through the second period on Jason Zucker's 12th goal of the season. However, New Jersey tied the game with a goal at 13:19 of the second period and another just over five minutes into the third.
Erik Haula gave the Wild a 3-2 lead with his seventh goal of the year at 9:08 of the third period, but the Devils tied the game :22 later and notched the game-winner with just under three minutes remaining in regulation.
The Wild fall to 28-10-5 on the season and will host the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night. The game can be heard on AM 1390 KXSS.
