MENDOTA HEIGHTS - St. Thomas scored three unanswered goals to pick up a 3-1 win over Saint John's on Friday.

The Johnnies led off the scoring in the first period with a power play goal from John Haeg. St. Thomas would tie the game later in the period with a power play goal from Thomas Williams.

The Tommies would take control of the game in the third period, Steve Sorensen scored the go-ahead goal with 6:30 remaining. Alex Altenbernd made it 3-1 for St. Thomas with an empty-net goal.

The Johnnies were shorthanded in the action after senior assistant captain Justin Hochsprung suffered a leg injury. Hochsprung left the game in an ambulance.

SJU is now 15-9 and 9-6 in the MIAC after the loss. They end the regular season on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. against the Tommies at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
