Even though the Twins were swept by the Cleveland Indians in a day-night double header Monday, one play stands out in my mind that won’t be reflected in the box score.

During the 3rd inning of the game, Alexi Casilla lined a single into right field off of Indian’s starter Fausto Carmona. Right fielder Austin Kearns attempted to dive for the ball but came up short, and proceeded to lob the ball back into the infield. Casilla, watching the play the entire time, took advantage of this and motored his way into second base with a gift double.

Hopefully Gardy and the Twins coaching staff took notice and applauded his hustle, because quite frankly this is the kind of aggression and hustle that has been lacking from the Twins this year.

And while this small play didn’t have much of an impact on the rest of the game, it was the one thing that stuck with me, and I hope to see more of it throughout the rest of the season.
