The St. Cloud Technical and Community College Cyclones are heading to their first national tournament in school history beggining Thursday. SCTCC posted a record of 25-9 on the season.

Coach Greg Thorstad says and early season trip to Florida with games against ranked teams gave the Cyclones confidence moving forward.

With the late winter weather affecting the scheduling of games in the area, SCTCC was only able to face each conference opponent once, as opposed to the traditional two meetings per year. However, the Cyclones stayed sharp and advanced in the round robin postseason tourney.

Among the many key pieces for the Cyclones has been sophomore Sam Steffes, a pitcher and shortstop from St. Louis Park.

The Cyclones will play in the national tournament beginning Thursday.
