SCSU forward Nic Dowd was recently named a captain of the Huskies, along with Nick Oliver and Kevin Gravel. Dowd, an Alabama native, was on hand Friday at the inaugural National Collegiate Hockey Conference media day at Target Center.

SCSU head coach Bob Motzko set Dowd up with a locker next to Hobey Baker Award winner Drew LeBlanc last season. Dowd says that Motzko does everything for a reason.

Dowd says the pace at which the renovations have taken place at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center has been impressive.

The senior forward says that off the ice his responsibilities may change a bit, but on the ice things should remain the same.

Last season Dowd and a number of his Husky teammates grew out their hair to donate to Locks of Love. Dowd says that the savings on shampoo have been minimal, however.
