ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud State University men's and women's basketball teams hosted the University of Minnesota-Crookston last night.

Men's Huskies Basketball Tops UM-Crookston 70-63

The Huskies withstood a second half comeback by the Golden Eagles to hold on to a 70-63 victory Friday night.

SCSU went into the half with a 12-point lead and held Crookston to only a 37% shooting percentage for the game.

Guard Jordan Poydras led the Huskies, scoring a game-high 27 points on 10-of-21 shooting.

Eddie Alcantara almost notched a double-double for SCSU, as he finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.

James Fort and Scottie Stone also scored in double figures for the Huskies, finishing with 12 and 10 points respectively.

With the win, the Huskies get over .500 at 8-7 on the season and will host Bemidji State tonight at 6:00 p.m.

SCSU Women's Team Has Rough Night In Loss

The Huskies' midseason slump continued as they could not keep up with the Golden Eagles in a 91-68 loss on Friday night.

SCSU struggled to get going offensively, shooting a paltry 7-28 from beyond the arc while Crookston thrived - hitting 10 of their 19 three point attempts.

Lexy Petermann did her best to keep the Huskies in the game, finishing with 14 points and Betsy McDonald added 12 - but it was not enough.

Four of Crookston's five starters finished in double figures and the Golden Eagles outshot the Huskies with a 53% shooting percentage for the game.

The Huskies (9-4) have lost four of their past five games after starting the season 8-0 and will look to snap out of their funk tonight against Bemidji State (5-9).
