The Kansas City Royals shook off an early one run deficit in a 7-2 win over the Twins at Target Field Tuesday. Minnesota is now 45-58 on the season.

Joe Mauer had an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to give the Twins a 1-0 lead in his first game back since his wife gave birth to twins. The lead, however, would prove to be short-lived in large part to a subpar output from the Twins starter, Mike Pelfrey.

Pelfrey was tagged for four runs on eight hits and two walks in just four innings of work. He allowed multiple baserunners in each of the four innings he pitched, and needed 92 pitches to get 12 outs.

Mike Moustakas homered twice for the Royals, and his three-run blast in the fourth inning was the nail in Pelfrey's coffin on the night. Four other Kansas City batters had multi-hit games.

The Twins and Royals will play again Wednesday night before a matinee Thursday to wrap up the matchup.
