The Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 7-2 Thursday afternoon to complete a three game sweep at Target Field. The Royals have won nine straight games, their longest streak since 2003.

The Twins got another lackluster performance from starting pitcher Scott Diamond. The lefty allowed seven runs on nine hits in five innings of work, taking loss to fall to 5-10 on the season. He was demoted to AAA immediately after the game for his efforts.

Minnesota's two runs were scored in the bottom of the fourth inning on a Joe Mauer groundout and a Justin Morneau solo home run.

The Twins will host the Houston Astros beginning Friday for three games at Target Field.

The Astros are one of just two teams in baseball with a worse record than Minnesota, with the other being the Miami Marlins. The Marlins swept the Twins earlier this season in Miami.
