Rox Avoid Sweep Against Stingers In Willmar Monday Night

The St. Cloud Rox jumped out to a lead, then held on for dear life in an 8-7 win at Willmar on Monday night. The Stingers took three out of four games in the series with St. Cloud.

The Rox scored two runs in the fourth inning, then two more in the fifth and four in the sixth for an 8-1 lead. The Stingers responded with four runs in the sixth, then two in the seventh to cut the lead to 8-7 but Rox closer Adam Maxon slammed the door shut in the ninth.

Tim Colwell, Luke Weber and Dustin Breshears all had multi-hit games for St. Cloud. Adam Martin and Charlie Morgan each had a pair of RBI for the Rox.

St. Cloud (9-11) will host the Mankato Moondogs Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon.
