ESPN is reporting that the Twins have reached an agreement with backup catcher Ryan Doumit on a 1-year $3 Million contract.  Doumit is a 30-year catcher who has also played outfield and first base while in Pittsburgh.  Last season in 77 games with Pittsburgh he hit .303 with 8 homeruns and 30 RBIs.

The Twins were looking for a backup catcher who had a potential to hit better than the options last season in Rene Rivera and Drew Butera.  Doumit chose the Twins over the L.A. Dodgers.  Doumit will backup Joe Mauer who had numerous stints on the disabled list in 2011.
