In this addition of Rebuilding the Twins, we look at center field.

After Denard Span sustained a concussion early in the year, Ben Revere received a chance to get consistent at bats through most of the season. With both Michael Cuddyer and Jason Kubel pending free agents, it appears as though both Span and Revere will be starting outfielders come next year. And as with third base, I feel like this is Revere’s job to lose.

Revere immediately added speed to the top of the lineup, breaking the Twins rookie record for stolen bases in a season. And while his batting average had its ups and downs, Revere showed great outfield defense throughout the year.

Span makes more sense in left because of the fact that it is a shorter throw from left to home as opposed to center to home and Span has a below average arm in the outfield. So barring any unforeseen trades or acquisitions during the offseason, look for Ben Revere to be starting in center field opening day.
