The Texas Rangers topped the Minnesota Twins 2-1 Thursday night in the first game of a four game series at Target Field. Josh Willingham hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning for the Twins only run.

Vance Worley fell to 0-3 on the season despite only allowing an RBI single in the 2nd inning and an RBI double in the fifth. Worley allowed six hits in five innings with two walks and three strikeouts.

Rookie Nick Tepesch improved to 2-1 on the year by lasting 6.2 innings and allowing only the home run to Willingham along with four scattered singles.

Willingham batted with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning with only one out, but grounded into a double play to end the threat.

Joe Nathan allowed a hit in the ninth inning but emerged unscathed to earn the save against his former team.
