Ortiz Continues To Crush Twins Pitching Wednesday
The Red Sox beat the Twins 9-4 Wednesday night at Target Field behind another big night from David Ortiz. The former Twins first baseman hit a pair of home runs to pace the Boston offense to victory.
Kevin Correia’s struggles continued for the Twins, with the starting pitcher allowing five runs on nine hits with no strikeouts over four innings. Correia is now 1-5 on the season with a 6.80 ERA.
Felix Doubront fared much better for the Red Sox, going 6.1 innings while allowing one run on seven hits with five strikeouts to improve to 2-3 on the year.
Ortiz finished the game 3-5 with the two home runs and a double, and is now 7-10 with four home runs in the first two games of the series.
Trevor Plouffe, Brian Dozier and Eduardo Nunez each had a pair of hits for the Twins, with Plouffe also picking up two runs batted in.
Boston wraps up their series with Minnesota Thursday afternoon at Target Field. Clay Buchholz will get the start for the Red Sox against Phil Hughes of the Twins.
