The Twins lost 7-3 at Oakland against the Athletics Sunday afternoon.  Oakland scored 6 3rd inning runs on 7 straight hits for the Athletics.  Carl Pavano threw 4 innings with 9 hits and 7 earned runs allowed to take the loss and drop to 6-8.  Brandon McCarthy threw 6 innings with 8 hits and 3 earned runs allowed to get the win for Oakland.  Joe Mauer went 3-5 with 1 RBI and Jim Thome went 3-4 with a solo homerun, his 597th in his career.  The Twins are 50-58 and are 7 games back of Detroit for first place in the American League Central.

Minnesota is off today and will begin a 3-game series in Anaheim against the Angels Tuesday night at 9:05, pregame on WJON at 8:35.  Lefthander Brian Duensing (8-8) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Ervin Santana (6-8) toes the rubber for the Angels.
