Now that the Vikings season has mercifully come to a close, there are a few things that all Vikings fans can be honest about. Admissions, if you will, that we felt in September, but were too afraid to even imagine. I, in fact, was ridiculed by friends and co-workers for suggesting that this season was going to be a long one. I didn't think it would be as bad as it turned out to be, because I honestly thought Tarvaris Jackson would prove to be decent, when given the opportunity that I knew he would. OK, so I was dead wrong about THAT one.

But, I COULD'NT HAVE BEEN MORE RIGHT, on my (very unpopular) prediction that Brett Favre was going to be terrible. I said it when he was in Mississippi all Summer. I said it when we begged him to come back - pathetic, by the way. I said it in the pre-season, when he looked like he was playing in slow motion. I said it before he only mustered up 9 points in the opener, and then again I predicted it wouldn't get any better in week 2. The result - a 14-10 home loss to the very mediocre Miami Dolphins. At this point, anyone that considers themselves part of the "Vikings Nation", should've known that this season was going to be horrible.

It's not ALL Favre's fault....only about 90%. He misled everyone from the start regarding his health. Now we all know that he was NEVER, EVER healthy - AT ANY POINT THIS SEASON. He was not ready to start the year, and he had no chance of finishing it. In his mind, his streak of games played was more important than the overall success of the team. I have a big problem with that. And he wasn't just BAD, he was absolutely HORRIBLE! Our future Hall-of-Famer was the worst QB in the league, statistically. I will spare you the list of atrocious quarterbacks in this league, it's a long one. There are a lot of guys that stink - and always have. Guys whose name comes up, and most of us just laugh. Well, BRETT FAVRE WAS WORSE THAN ALL OF THOSE GUYS!!!!

OK, I can't resist; Matt Hasselbach, Jason Campbell, and Chad Henne, were all better than Favre (and they're bad). It gets better. Shaun Hill, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Jon Kitna, were all better, some WAY better, than Favre was. Here is the icing on the cake, though, and I really can't believe I'm about to say this; Colt McCoy, Jimmy Clausen, Sam Bradford, and Tim Tebow - ALL ROOKIES - were better than Brett Favre.

Joe Webb, another rookie, was better than Brett Favre, and we didn't even draft him to play quarterback. That about says it all.

I'm sure most football fans will remember Brett Favre for his glory years in Green Bay. There was noone better in the mid to late 90's. He's got lots of records, and has won a ton of games. I just have a feeling that I'm not going to be the only Vikings fan that remembers Favre with a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
