SAUK RAPIDS -- The Granite City Lumberjacks pulled away from the Minnesota Flying Aces last night in a 7-3 victory.

The game looked like a shootout early, as the Lumberjacks and Flying Aces traded first period scores.

Goals by Luke Richardson and Tanner Skaja gave Granite City the lead before Minnesota tied it at 2-2.

The Lumberjacks retook the lead on a goal by Blake Phenow and Dallas Marvin scored two goals in five minutes to extend the lead to 5-2.

Minnesota scored a goal early in the final period, but goals by Lumberjacks Brady Bernhardson and Corey Taylor slammed the door on any possible comeback as Granite City won their 17th game of the season.

The Lumberjacks and Flying Aces will play again next week in Little Falls.
