The St. Cloud State men's hockey team swept North Dakota in Grand Forks over the weekend, and as a result moved from #8 in the weekly USCHO.com poll to #3.

The Huskies topped North Dakota 3-2 Friday night at Ralph Engelstad Arena. The game was the first for the Huskies in the newly formed National Collegiate Hockey Conference.

North Dakota took an early lead with Drake Caggiula scoring at 3:02 of the first period. UND outshot SCSU 10-8 in the opening period.

Neither team scored in the second period, with shots even at ten apiece for the period.

The Huskies scored a pair of goals within the first five minutes of the third period to take a 2-1 lead. Defenseman Kevin Gravel scored at the 2:36 mark, and Kalle Kossila notched a goal at 4:32.

Andrew Prochno scored for SCSU to make the score 3-1 at 12:36, then held off UND after Mark MacMillan scored with just under five minutes remaining in regulation.

The St. Cloud State Huskies posted a huge weekend sweep over the University of North Dakota with a 3-1 victory Saturday night.

The Huskies are the first team to sweep North Dakota at the Ralph since Denver did it back in January of 2010.

UND scored first in the opening period with a power play goal by Troy Stecher.

The Huskies would come storming back in the second period with a goal from junior Tim Daly.

SCSU would quickly take the lead 12 seconds later thanks to a goal from captain Nic Dowd.

In the third period, SCSU would pad its lead with a beautiful goal from Kalle Kossila, making it 3-1.

Ryan Faragher made 16 saves for the Huskies. SCSU out-shot North Dakota 29-17 in the action.

The Huskies return to the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center next week for a NCHC match-up against Miami, Ohio. Puck drop is set for 7:37 p.m. and 7:07 p.m. on November 8th-9th. Ticket information can be found on the SCSU tickets website.
