The Rox jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings but could not hold on in a 6-4 loss to the Duluth Huskies Wednesday night at Joe Faber Field. Nick Saathoff smacked a three run home run off of SCSU reliever Reese Gregory in the top of the ninth inning for the winning runs.

Luke Weber’s two-run home run, his second of the season, staked St. Cloud to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, then the Rox added two more in the bottom of the second on an Eric Loxtercamp single and Tim Colwell sac fly for a 4-0 advantage.

SCSU’s Kyle Fischer again pitched seven shutout innings before giving up a handful of runs in the top of the eighth to cut the Rox lead to 4-3.

Rox are now 8-6 in the second half of the season and trail Waterloo by 4.5 games. They host Duluth Thursday night at 7:05.
