Huskies Fall In Overtime To Top Ranked DU

DENVER - The St. Cloud State Men's Hockey Team (15-15-1, 9-11-1 NCHC) lost 4-3 to the University of Denver (23-6-4, 15-3-3 NCHC).

The teams traded goals in the 1st period. Denver was on the board 1st but the Huskies responded quickly with a goal from Mikey Essimont. 

SCSU took the lead a short while later with a goal from Jon Lizotte, but DU tied the game at 2-2 late in the 1st period.

DU scored in the second but SCSU's Judd Peterson tied the game in the 3rd to send the contest to overtime.

The overtime winner by DU came at the 3:44 mark in the extra period.

Essimont and Freshman Ryan Poehling each finished with 2 points on the night. Goaltender Jeff Smith finished with 34 saves.
